As the fashion industry moves towards sustainability to become more environmentally friendly, many brands are turning to forest fibre such as viscose, lyocell and modal.
These fibres, known as man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF), can be an environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic materials, but only if they come from responsibly managed forests. Using fibre and natural rubber from sustainably managed forests prevents deforestation, protects biodiversity and respects human rights.
Today, more than 50% of MMCF comes from uncertified forests that are vulnerable to deforestation and illegal logging.
If you produce fashion products using MMCF or other forest materials, you can obtain supply chain certification. Supply chain certification shows customers that you are committed to sustainable sourcing. The FSC® label on the finished product indicates that the materials used in production have met supply chain requirements at each stage of the supply chain, from supply to distribution. Once you get your supply chain certified, you will also be able to use FSC trademarks, informing customers about the responsible and sustainable choice of your products.
